Alexander Graham bell? He did not want to be remembered as the inventor of telephone. He technically invented flight show at the same time the Wright brothers invented private flight, so technically they are both fathers of flight.

Bell's group did invent Hydroplanning aircraft, which was aimed for use in the military, but sadly it was not completed on time as the war ended and lost military support. His wife was deaf and flew his loudest sea-plane ;P

Alexander Graham Bell has a museum in Nova Scotia, where all his aircraft research was done. Fun fact, a military member that was also part of Bell's group died in a crash caused by a failure in the Wright brother's aircraft while doing a test flight.

He didn't want to be remembered as inventor of the telephone, he still invented it though.
