Yes, I remember talking about adding it back myself. There was something unique about this bridges that stood out from others servers.
Unfortunately the plugin was deleted from the website I got it from due to author inactivity.. However I can reconstruct it or just run it on 1.8 (though I need to avoid 1.8 if possible due to exploits in the older versions) I'm considering having one minigame open a week, since if I have them all open people will just get bored with them. Do you have any other ideas on how to make it so they don't lose all of their popularity after a few days?
Maybe you shouldn't have one minigame open a week tbh, as it may also causes boredom for the other players as they have to wait for their fav minigame every week. Instead, you should open all the minigames but add different kinda stuffs to the game like idk? I have some ideas which I had observe from other server, they did a test of the game and let players try it. If players love it they would keep it and be fully released, some add plugins, mods, texture pack, different kits and lastly some did a teaser of the game. Finally, this is by far the hardest and a personal opinion of mine is having YOUTUBERS to advertise your server which causes their viewers to go on the server and play on it. I mean I am no expert on being staff or own a server ever before but this are some ideas which i gotten from watching youtubers and playing on other minecraft server. This also another tough job, which is to also get active staffs I know most staffs have diff timezones and ofc having their daily stuff but try getting staffs from other timezones. Also, take your time to craft the minigames and not rushing it and leaving glitches behind (I have no idea i am just assuming ya'll are rushing it due to busy schedule). I mean base on my 4-6 years experience I have notice different kind of glitches which are very very obvious. Hope this helps you, Peace:P! ~~~~
I think there needs to be a lot of hype and also some small reward or something for playing. I had an idea where you can hold a raffle of sorts for a rank or something, but in order to be put into the raffle you need to have 20 hours or so on the server (obviously all of this can change, this is just an example). You can make it so there are gifts or things to get people to get excited about games like this. People get bored of stuff after a while but if there's a reward or something to be earned, they'll play it until they start bleeding from their eyes (i played 24 hours of a game in the span of two days to farm a rare item). Maybe you can have a limited time prefix as Minigame Master or something like that as an incentive to get people to play. You could also hold a "minigame day" where everyone can just play minigames and chill out.
How about a revamp of the whole minigames server? That way we can add all the games, and bring a new feel to it.
It's possible, but the minigames server has never been as popular as we had hoped, even though it has been designed and redesigned likely at least 4 times. While designing it we would need to find a new way to increase player retention, while also justifying not going to some Minecraft's largest minigames servers. Some minigames, like bridges, uses an entire server to itself.
Yep. Also I've read everyone's comments and I've had some ideas. Although 321 is correct in saying minigames has never been too popular, there are always short bursts of time where for a couple of hours there's 10+ people on playing and enjoying themselves. Most of the time a lot of those players happen to be new players. I feel that every time this occurs its because someone (usually me lol) tries to get a bunch of ppl to join and when three people join, it interests a fourth and then a fifth, etc, etc. I think there needs to be more incentive for people to actually play because when there is 6-7+ people playing a single minigame it can be really fun. I remember when bridges first came out and it was active for almost an entire week. Also along with what 321 said, instead of having a minigame only active for a day, a decent idea may be to have a "minigame of the week" where there's 1 minigame per week. That would leave people enough time to play it and when it gets boring another minigame can be played.
